A Memorable Day at Lymington Saturday Market

Embracing New Beginnings

As a passionate mehndi artist, there’s a special thrill that comes with stepping into a new space to share my craft. This past Saturday marked our very first day at the Lymington Saturday Market, and I can honestly say it was an experience I will cherish. Although the weather wasn’t the sunniest, the warmth of the people I met made up for it in every way.

Setting Up Shop

Arriving at the market, I was buzzing with excitement and a hint of nervousness. Setting up my stall, I laid out an array of henna designs, ranging from intricate bridal patterns to fun, simple designs perfect for children. With each design I displayed, I felt a sense of pride in my work and anticipation for the smiles they would bring.

Meeting Freya

As the morning progressed, a lovely lady named Freya approached my stall. She seemed drawn to my designs and soon decided to have a henna design done. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and as I began to create a beautiful floral pattern on her hand, we struck up a conversation.

Freya shared her own experiences with henna and how it had been a part of her family traditions. She exuded positivity, and I felt a connection with her as I worked. After finishing her design, she looked down in awe and exclaimed how much she loved it! To my surprise, she not only left me a generous tip but also took the time to write a glowing review: "Was a lovely experience in the sun! Was very efficient and professional! Would highly recommend." This simple act of kindness made my day and reminded me why I love what I do.

The Joy of Kids Henna

After Freya left, I was delighted to see a queue of eager children waiting for their turn. There’s something incredibly joyful about working with kids; their faces light up with excitement as they anticipate their henna designs. I had a variety of playful designs ready to go, from butterflies to stars, and I could hardly keep up with their requests!

  • Simple Designs: Quick swirls and dots that brought giggles.
  • Animal Themes: Little tigers and bunnies that sparked their imagination.
  • Personal Touch: Many wanted their names or initials, making each design special.

Every child that sat in my chair added a splash of joy to my day. Their laughter, curiosity, and even the occasional wiggle made my heart swell. I remember one little girl who was particularly anxious about getting henna for the first time. I reassured her, and as I worked, she relaxed and eventually wore the biggest smile as she admired her new design. Moments like these are what fuel my passion for henna artistry.

The Weather's Change

However, as the clock approached 2:30 PM, the weather decided to take a turn. The sky darkened, and rain began to fall. I knew I had to pack up early, but I was grateful for the time I spent at the market. As I folded my stall, I reflected on the connections I had made and the beauty I had shared through my art.

Looking Ahead

This first day at Lymington Saturday Market was a wonderful experience, despite the rain. The kindness of Freya and the joy of the children made it truly memorable. I left the market feeling fulfilled and excited for the future.

I can’t wait to return next week, ready to create more henna magic for the lovely people of Lymington. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and shared in this beautiful journey with me. If you missed us this time, don’t worry—there’s always next week! I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends. Until then, keep smiling and embracing the joy of henna!
